The Digital Freedom Foundation announce the registration is open for Culture Freedom Day celebration and will be celebrated the 18th May 2013 for a second time.

What is FREE CULTURE?

For many Free Culture is the logical extension of the Free Software philosophy applied to cultural and artistic work, initiated in the mid eighties by Richard M. Stallman. The term “free culture” itself was originally the title of a 2004 book by Lawrence Lessig, considered a founding father of the free culture movement. Mr Lessig has indeed succesfully channeled this natural evolution into a dedicated movement for people who cared little about writing software and created specific licensed specifically tailored for work of art rather than software.

The Globe Telecom Company, one of the leading telecommunications company in the country supports another  Mozilla-PH event which is the Zamboanga Goes Mobile- “Open Source Style”.

The Zamboanga Goes Mobile -” Open Source Style” event which will be held at E-learning Centre  on March 16, 2013 that will bring Student Developer, Developer and  I.T. Enthusiast from Zamboanga Peninsula , who is interested to learn more about Firefox OS . Globe Telecom company will join us and  sponsor the internet connection during the event.

He is a graduate from Colegio De San De Letran(Calamba, Laguna) with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Currently working at Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation as full time System Administrator.He is active contributor in Free and Open Source  Community and strongly support the open web Project. Active contributor in Ubuntu Bug Squad and a Mozilla Representative.

Currently with Mozilla Philippines, he is the team lead of engagement and webmaker projet. He will be talking about Mozilla in the Philippines and Firefox for Android.

He is known simply as Kim to his friends and colleagues he is a Technology Lover & Gadget Reviewer, an Aspiring Photographer and a Gamer from Laguna,Philippines. He holds a degree in Information Technology from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Calamba,He is 1/4 Chinese and the rest is Filipino.
He started as a Student Rep for Mozilla Philippines in 2009 until he became ReMo on October 2011, Currently he is under the Engagement Team and has the role of the Student Reps Lead – he loves working with students and is the acting Photographer of the Mozilla Philippines Community. He will be talking more about the Mozilla Student Representative project .

As an event of Mozilla Philippines Community, official Mozilla Representative will be going to Zamboanga City as guest lecturer to discuss topic such as Firefox for Android, Firefox OS and Firefox Marketplace.

The Firefox OS is a new operating system developed by Mozilla’s Boot to Gecko (B2G) project. It is a linux-based open source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers; it is designed to allow HTML5 applications to integrate directly with the device hardware using Javascript. Firefox OS also uses open web technologies stack.

The Digital Freedom Foundation is proud to announce that the Hardware Freedom Day registration is up. The  Digital Freedom Foundation is also the organization behind Software Freedom Day (SFD).

What is Hardware Freedom Day?

Hardware Freedom Day is a worldwide celebration of Open Hardware. Initiated in 2012 by the same organization behind Software Freedom Day it aims at educating the worldwide public about the benefits of using and promoting Open Hardware. It also provides an international day to serve as a platform to raise awareness to existing projects and communities around the world as well as encourage participation in local Open Hardware initiatives.

What is Open Hardware?

For some Open Hardware is a logical evolution of the Free Software philosophy applied to physical stuff, where both code and design blueprints co-exist. However no one can deny that humankind has evolved through a DIY and hack & share-it culture until patents prevented us to do so.

We have an awesome! Mozilla Campus tour project in Universidad De Zamboanga (UZ) yesterday, More than 70 students from IT Department attended the event which was held at IMC in Universidad De Zamboanga Main Campus.

Me as Mozilla Representative (PHL) Introduce the Mozilla project to the crowd, products, Localization effort and Mozilla presence in the Philippines. One of the Mozilla Student Representative Mr. Oniel Nick Paira shares his experience being a student representative and how to contribute to Chavacano Localization.

The event started around 9:00AM and ended around 12:00 noon with a group picture talking from the participants.

Mozilla announced  last February 4, 2013 that a major milestone in WebRTC development called WebRTC RTCPeerConnection interoperability between Firefox and Google Chrome. It was announced at this blog post . Below is a youtube video from Mozilla calling Google using browser.
